A Financial Analysis of 3M Company

Not so often do companies hold such a vast array of businesses. Whoever thought companies could have a manufacturing, financial, and television segment but not succeed is wrong. The conglomerate industry is diversified. Holding these companies through uncertain times illustrate strong investing knowledge. The current state of the economy is a bit instable, so owning a company like GE is a good investment. However, there are other companies in this industry. These companies not only have a strong business model, but they have excellent growth potential and solid valuation. One of these companies is 3M (MMM).

Saw Bits

Before examining the financial statements of 3M, it is vital to understand the variety of activities this company performs. According to Reuters, 3M is a "diversified technology company with a global presence in various businesses, including industrial and transportation, healthcare, display and graphics, consumer and office, safety, security and protection services, and electro and communications." The industrial and transportation business includes products such as food and beverage, personal care, and automobiles. More specific industrial products include polyester, foil, and tape. Specific transportation products are insulation components like catalytic converters. The health care segment produces supplies for medical, surgical, and dental use. The display and office business employs workers to produce stationary products, supply products, and home-improvement products. Office products like Post-it Memo Pads are also produced in this section. 3M also controls a safety segment and an electro and communications section, where the latter creates products including telecommunication fiber-optic products.

Saw Bits

The main idea to take from the different business of 3M is the hedging strategy. Instead of focusing on only one industry, 3M can have a section of its business prosper, while another section's growth slows. It is true that 3M may not experience any incredible share price appreciation because of its strategy, but 3M will not experience any dramatic share price fallout either. As evidence, since 1999, 3M has only had one distinct negative share price calendar year (2005), and that year only yielded a loss of 6%. Each year during this timeline before and after 2005, 3M has been flat or shown share price appreciation. In 2006 the share price rose about 5%, and so far in 2007 the share price is up over 30%. Throughout this period, the US economy has been through exuberant growth to panicked recession. However, because of 3M's strategy and investor's trust in such a well-respected brand, 3M has managed to avoid so terrible economic periods.

While, 3M's business model is great, there are many other corporations in this industry that have similar strategies. What differentiates 3M however is its fundamentals. Over the last fiscal year, according to Reuters, 3M saw revenue at .9 billion dollars. This is an outstanding number. What is more outstanding is relative sales growth. 3M's recent sales figure was 7.86% higher than it was the previous fiscal year. Not only is this increase higher than its five year average, but it is also higher than the five year average of the conglomerate industry. Considering the size of sales volume, this is a great sign of growth. What is even more outstanding is earnings growth. 3M has been efficient with its costs and saw an increase in profits of over 32.76% last fiscal year. This number is higher than the company's five year average at 23.13% and also higher than the industry's average at 13.87%. Comparing this figure to industry competitors, United Technologies only saw a 13.72% increase during the same time period, Emerson Electric saw a 20.26% increase, and GE only had profits grow by 12.16%. Clearly 3M is growing and using good internal controls to reduce cost.

Another way of illustrating 3M's strong growth is through its margins. Gross margins for 3M at 47.94% are quite high compared to the industry's average at 39.01%. 3M's gross margins are also higher than United Technologies' 26.78% figure, Emerson's 35.70% number, and GE's 42.83% margin. In addition, 3M's operating margins at 28.04% are also above the industry average at 15.24%, not to mention above the rest of the industry's respective figures. The more important margin, net profit margin, is also in favor of 3M. The past fiscal year illustrated this figure at 18.61%. The number is quite high compared to the company's five year average at 14.70%. In addition, 3M's number beats the industry average of 11.81%, United Technologies' figure at 8.10%, Emerson's margin at 9.29%, and GE's number at 12.88%. 3M is working very efficiently compared to its industry peers. It can use the extra cents it makes for every dollar to help the company and investors. Capital spending over the past five years for 3M is growing at 3.57%. This number is higher than the industry average of 0.98% and higher than most of the aforementioned companies. Higher capital spending now means even more efficiency in the future for 3M. Lower costs mean wider margins and a greater ability for 3M to buy back shares from investors or increase its dividend.

While 3M's growth looks excellent, some investors may question the company's valuation. According to Reuters, the conglomerate industry has an earnings multiple of 19.92. Fortunately, for investors wanting to buy shares of this company, the forward P/E ratio for 3M is 18.99. This number is very similar to GE, Emerson, and United Technologies. In addition, 3M's forward price to sales ration of 2.82 is also similar to the mentioned companies. This indicator illustrates that not only is 3M growing quite strongly, but 3M is also undervalued compared to its growth across this industry. High growth and low valuation typically create a strong recipe for success. 3M's PEG ratio of 1.67 is near or below most of the industry competitors which again illustrates low valuation given growth.

In terms of other 3M strengths, this company is solvent with a 1.28 current ratio. The company is owned by more than 67% institutional investors. This indicates that the smartest investors like this company and want to take the risk to own it. The company's ROE of 39.97% is excellent. This number is above its five year average of 33.31% and also above the industry average of 20.97%. This number obliterates GE, United Technologies, and Emerson's figures. And if higher margins continue to be present for 3M, future buybacks will lead to even increased returns. 3M's ROA of 19.82% and ROI of 27.80% are also quite strong. 3M is also very efficient when it comes to turnover. Receiver turnover at 6.99 beats the industry average of 4.27 which means consumers pay their discounts or credit on average every 50 days. Asset turnover at 1.07 is also stronger than the industry average of 0.53, which means 3M's asset moves usually mean larger sales. Overall, there are plenty of advantages to owning 3M and its fundamentals.

Therefore, now would be an excellent time to think about purchasing 3M shares. The dividend yield for this company at 2.04% is very reasonable. In addition, technical indicators illustrate appreciating 50 day SMA and EMA indicators coupled with an up trending Parabolic SAR. The recent cross over of SMA and EMA a few weeks back indicates that 3M is ready to rise and should enjoy higher share price appreciation until the lines converge. Therefore, given the fundamental, technical, and strategy analysis, there are plenty of reasons for investors to purchase shares of 3M as a part of a diversified portfolio.

Karate Workouts

As a karate student for over 35 years, I do try to workout almost everyday. Importantly, "working out" does not necessarily mean going to a gym or your favorite dojo (karate club). The founder of Japanese karate, Gichin Funkaoshi, used to stress that all one need do is practice kata- perhaps three different times a day- and that would serve to keep one in shape- or at least, to a large degree.

Saw Bits

This past week, while I was at my law firm, I saw many clients, as I often do. However, in between client meetings, I did kata- pretty much all day long. when I had fifteen minutes break time, I did all of the Heian series- a basic set of kata from the Shotokan style of karate. Then when I got another break, a bit later in the day, I did JION, BASSAI, and KWANKU- all more advanced kata- more difficult and more lenghty than the HEIAN series previously mentioned. I did notice, as I always do, that I was quite out of breath and a bit tired, after doing the three major kata just discussed.

Saw Bits

Several hours later, near the end of my legal day, I also did several even more advanced kata- and ones that I knew needed work- ones that I needed to brush up on. These included UNSU and SOCHIN- and I did go over these two, many times- and then, finally, full blast.

I can say that by the end of the day- around 6 p.m., I was feeling very good- I had gotten a good workout- by doing what Funakoshi had said to do- kata, several times, throughout the day. I had also done a good amount of pushups and situps too, interspersed between the many kata.

The important point is that I did not have to go anyplace special- one can do kata pretty much anywhere. And by doing them, the kata get better- you get better at doing them- and as a result, you can do them harder and better. These karate exercises strengthen every part of your body- and they also significantly increase your balance, flexibility and overall well being.

If you add pushups and situps and jogging to the mix, you will get into very good shape. You will also find that your other sports hobbies- tennis, golf- whatever- they will all be easier- and you will be better at them.

Finally, one can practice kata at any age, and one does not need any equipment at all. The student of karate should include kata along with all other aspects of his or her training. They, kata, are a great tool in one's fitness arsenal.

How to Build Cabinet Doors

So you've decided the kitchen needs a facelift but you don't want to get a second mortgage to do it. Putting up new cabinet doors can revitalize any dreary kitchen. It's a large project that requires a bit of woodworking know how but it's certainly a great way to get exactly the right cabinets for you. So read on for a guide on how to build cabinet doors.

Saw Bits

The first thing you'll need to do is cut a rough door out of the same material your cabinets are made of.

Saw Bits

Cut the sides of the door slightly longer than the cabinet frame

Reposition the wood and cut the top and bottom slightly larger than the frame opening.

Next item is to cut out the edges of the door.

Measure the height and width of the door frame. Trace this measurement onto the backside of the cabinet door.

Adjust your table saw so that the blade is roughly a third the depth of the wood.

Trim around the edges of the door.

Next you'll need a router to bevel the edges of the door.

Run the router around the sides, top and bottom of the cabinet door.

Wipe off and dust and take the door over to the cabinets and fit check it.

Trim off any areas that don't fit inside the frame

If everything fits snug go ahead and set the door aside and start on the next door.

Repeat this process for all of the single doors.

Making a set of double doors is a little bit different.

You'll use the same steps for creating the template except this time cut 1 sheet of wood that will fit both doors.

Once you've made this cut measure the center of the wood and cut it lengthwise splitting it into the two doors.

The reason for using a single sheet of wood is to preserve the wood grain pattern, the doors will match.

Don't rout or cut the inner length of the 2 doors since you'll want them to fit flush inside the cabinet.

At this point you'll need an assistant to hold the double doors in place to check the fit.

Since you didn't cut the middle line on the doors you can trim them down flush on these sides.

Now that you have all of the doors built it's time to sand everything down, smooth any edges and stain.

For sanding it's a good idea to work outside to limit the amount of fine saw dust that can settle on everything.

After you've finished sanding you'll need to stain.

Since this is a large project it's a good idea to go ahead and mix up multiple cans of stain into a larger bucket. This will assure a uniform color across all the doors.

Apply a protective varnish to the doors after the stain has dried.

That's all there is to the actual door build. Figuring out how to build cabinet doors can be pretty involved. As long as you have the time and proper tools though it's a rewarding way to save a lot of money in a kitchen remodel.

Dry Core Bits Offer Better Options!

When drilling holes through masonry walls (brick, block, stucco), dry core bits dry core bits offer a tremendous advantage over carbide bits. It has been my experience over the years on numerous jobs sites to witness contractors employing a variety of tactics when penetrating masonry walls. Whether an electrician needs a two inch opening or an HVAC contractor needs a four inch vent, or even a plumber needs to run a six inch pipe, or maybe the fire sprinkler contractor needs to run through block fire wall; they usually grab their hammer drill and start drilling a series of holes followed by some maul and chisel work. This type of drilling makes quite a mess and leaves behind a hole a bit larger than the one intended due to the "blow-out" produced by the hammering action of the carbide bit.

Saw Bits

When I see this I hop on their scaffold after receiving permission. In my hand is a dry core drilling machine with the core bit required to drill the hole needed. One of the first things I have to verify is the hole size. Most contractors are so used to a hole that winds up much bigger than prescribed, I also need to point out that a diamond bit at two inches for instance will have a hole in the wall of precisely two inches. For this reason, the contractor needs to measure the o.d (outside diameter) of his pipe or duct and account for any escutcheon or flange or grill to be attached.

Saw Bits

My hand held drill has a variable speed trigger which helps to start the bit without walking on the wall. Provided there is no steel in the wall, these contractors are amazed at the speed at which an average brick and block wall can be drilled. There is generally very little clean up as the "cored" masonry remains inside the bit. Insulation and or fire caulking costs are greatly reduced as the hole is only slightly larger than the pipe.

You wouldn't believe how many of those contractors now ask me to drill such holes when I am on the job site doing my other drilling and cutting jobs.

Try this on your next job and I am sure you will be satisfied.

Scroll Saw Tips and Techniques - Making a "Zero Clearance" Table

For those of you who like to scroll saw, you know how tedious it can be to cut very small pieces of your scroll saw patterns. After years of wear (and sometimes even weeks) the hole in your scroll saw table gets scuffed and enlarged from repeated rubbing of the blade. This occurrence is not generally due to user error, but is what I would refer to as 'the nature of the beast'. In my 13+ years of scroll sawing, it is rare that I come across a scroll saw table that doesn't have this type of wear soon after its initial use.

Saw Bits

For the most part, this does not interfere with production, but when cutting small, delicate pieces sometimes required for intarisa or segmentation, it can cause the problem of lack of support as well as losing the piece as it is cut off. In order to rectify this, many scrollers make what is referred to as a 'zero clearance plate' for their saw. The purpose of the zero clearance plate is to provide better support for small and delicate pieces, as well as avoid losing them in the pile of sawdust underneath.

Saw Bits

There are several ways you can make this add-on for your saw. I will be focusing on what I feel to be the easiest, quickest (albeit, temporary) method of making this plate. It is a great 'quick fix' for those of you who don't need or want a more permanent type or don't want to use it all the time, and can be installed in less than five minutes.

Assembly - First of all, make sure your scroll saw table is clean. Give it a spray with WD-40 and use some fine grit sandpaper to clean any adhesive or debris that may have collected on it.

- After sanding, use a paper towel to clean off the WD-40. This will leave the surface slick and oily. You will now need to use Windex or another window cleaner or alcohol to remove the oily residue. You want the table as clean and grease-free as possible.

- Next, take an empty two liter pop bottle and cut a rounded rectangle from the plastic. The rectangle should be about three inches square with rounded corners.

- Use your drill press and a small bit (about 1/16th of an inch) to drill a small hole in the center of the plastic piece.

- Go to your scroll saw and place a small blade in the blade holder. Release the top of the blade and thread the plastic piece through, curved side down.

- Reattach the blade and tighten the tension.

- Square out the plastic and use 2" clear packaging tape to tape the plate into place. I use strips of at least 6" long. Place four stripes - two vertical to each side of the blade and two horizontal at the front and back of the blade. Do this carefully so you don't get any wrinkles in the tape which would interfere with your cutting.

- There you have it! An easy, effective and quick zero clearance scroll saw table!

I found that this type of plate works great especially for delicate segmentation and intarsia scroll saw patterns with very small pieces. After a few projects, the hole does start to get bigger and sometimes the tape will roll up slightly at the edges after a bit of use. If this occurs, I just take a sharp scraping knife and trim off the loose edges of the tape. After a while, I replace the plate, cleaning my table as stated before.

Even though I need to replace the plate periodically, I still use this method as opposed to a more permanent one because it is inevitable that even on wooden overlay plates which are popular, the hole will show signs of wear and get larger. Also with a wooden plate, you are raising the surface of your table the thickness of the wood and this could affect the performance of reverse-tooth blades, which I use often.

Many people also use this method using old credit cards or other plastic, but I found that they are a bit thicker than the pop bottle plastic and form a ridge which causes problems when feeding delicate work through. I keep a several 'blank plates' in my scroll saw supply drawer, as I cut anywhere from four to eight of them from a discarded pop bottle at a time, which lasts a while. I hope you try this method and it works well for you. You can download an article which has step-by-step pictures of the process on my web site if you wish.

The Death Of Dorothy Hunt - Probing The Assassination Of John F Kennedy, Part 3

Brigadier General Russell Bowen, in Immaculate Deception, analyzed key Nixon tapes in which he referred to "Texans," "the Texans," "Cubans," "the Bay of Pigs," and "some Texas people." One of the "brown shoe boys" of the OSS and decades of intelligence work, Bowen saw the references as referring both to recent money laundering and to the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Saw Bits

When the most relevant of these tapes was released, Nixon advisor Dean Burch said of George H.W. Bush: "He broke out in a**holes and sh*t himself to death..." The Warren Commission Report documents included a memo in which J. Edgar Hoover said he gave a full briefing on the assassination to Mr. George Bush of the Central Intelligence Agency, and there in a photograph of someone who looks very much like Bush standing in front of the Texas School Book Depository on November 22, 1963.

Saw Bits

Comparison of that image with known photographs of the young Bush only strengthen the impression that it he was there that day. In 1979, the House Select Committee on Assassinations found that the FBI had numerous recordings of mafia people threatening to kill JFK. There is no evidence Hoover ever tried to warn the Secret Service. Maybe Hoover simply agreed with subsequent researchers who thought the mob had enough on Kennedy that a hit was unnecessary. However, this would not have prevented the mob from accepting payment for assisting in an effort initiated by others.

Nixon was in a position to know what happened on November 22, 1963, but that does not mean he was involved. Probably by coincidence, Nixon had just returned to New York from a conservative meeting in Dallas when he learned of the assassination. Initially, Vice President Richard Nixon oversaw Operation 40, an assassins unit, which was first aimed at Cuba to appease businessmen complaining about lost property.

Nixon got a committee of businessmen under Jack Crichton and George H.W. bush to fund the operation. These men were also entrusted with enlisting Cubans to invade Cuba. Frank Sturgis, Howard Hunt, Bernard Baker and Rafael Quintero were among those recruited for the invasion. Orlando Bosch, Luis Posada Carriles, and Antonio Veciana Felix Rodriguez was serving as an aid to Bush. After the failed Bay of Pigs Operation, these people detested Kennedy.

E. Howard Hunt always insisted he was in Washington, D.C. the day Kennedy died. However, the picture of three bums picked up in Dallas that day has fueled speculation that one of them was Hunt. Another looked like Frank Sturgis, who was never directly employed by the CIA. The picture allegedly showing Sturgis is convincing. Sturgis, who was murdered in 1992, told investigator Henegan that the three hoboes were Sturgis, Hunt, and Charles Harrelson. Sturgis said that his job that day was to act as a spotter for "sewer assassins," and added that there was more than one hit team there. Investigator Jim Fetzer also identified Harrelson, but substituted Charles Rogers ( aka Charles Montoya) for Sturgis

Harrelson, the tallest of them, was an organized crime figure later sent to prison for killing a San Antonio judge John Wood with a high powered rifle. Anthropologist Gary Mack studied the photographic evidence and said Harrelson was likely the tall tramp. Harrelson once confessed to being involved in the assassination of Kennedy but later retracted his comments, saying they were made under the influence of cocaine., Carlos Marcello's brother was convicted of hiring Harrelson to shoot Wood. .

Hunt testified to the House that he had never met Frank Sturgis until late 1972--something that seems very unlikely. Sturgis had been very active in the Miami anti-Castro movement and had heard of a CIA named "Eduardo" but he had not met Hunt or "Eduardo" until late Hunt had bragged that he often used disguises, and it is possible that he used some slight disguise then. Likewise David Atlee Phillips, an actor by avocation, admitted to using disguises.

Some thought the third person was Edward Lansdale. This association was probably made because probably design of the assassination looked like Lansdale's work. General Lansdale was committed to the US effort in Vietnam and had great influence within the CIA because he helped control the gold the Japanese had hidden in the Philippines during World War II . .Experts like Mike Sparks and Fletcher Prouty saw the design as classic Lansdale. The great skill in removing conspirators from Dallas and the subsequent cover-up reflect the work of a man of his expertise. The general had many reasons to despise Kennedy, including what he thought were promises of high office in Vietnam. The Army had an anti-Kennedy think tank at the American University called "Camelot," and another nest of anti-Kennedy people was Operation Mongoose, a CIA unit in Miami dedicated to killing Castro. It had a stable of capable hit men. In the view of all these people, Kennedy had made terrible blunders in planning to bring 1000 troops home from Vietnam by Christmas and by signing National Security Action Memorandum 263, which would reorient US policy from Asia to Europe.

However, investigator Jim Fetzer makes a good case that the third hit man was Chauncey Holt, a contract CIA killer and a very interesting man. At one time he was Meyer Lansky's accountant. He was also a counterfeiter and once ran a school for assassins.

The alleged photograph of Hunt shows a resemblance but is a bit fuzzy. St. John Hunt, Howard's oldest son, also saw the picture: "Around 1975, I was in a phone booth in Maryland somewhere, when I saw a poster on a telephone pole about who killed JFK, and it had a picture of the three tramps. I saw that picture and I fucking -- like a cartoon character, my jaw dropped, my eyes popped out of my head, and smoke came out of my ears. It looks like my dad. There's nobody that has all those same facial features. People say it's not him. He's said it's not him. But I'm his son, and I've got a gut feeling." He added that he did not remember his father being in D.C. that day. E .Howard Hunt said under oath he was home chopping vegetables with his wife. 1972 In the 1975 trial, attorney Marc Lane pointed out that Hunt had to carefully remind his children that he was home on November 22, 1963. The jury did not believe Hunt.

Lois Gibson, a visual identification expert with the Houston Police Department, has made a good case that the three tramps were three entirely different men, whose identities were known. One of them, coincidentally, was also photographed near Oswald when he was passing out Fair Play for Cuba pamphlets. This is not a matter that is easily resolved. If Hunt and other CIA operatives were in Dealey Plaza, it is very possible that they were not there as tramps. On the other hand, technical experts from 3M's Comtal Corporation in 1988 concluded there was a strong resemblance between Hunt and the third tramp. Earlier, others had reached a similar conclusion by using photo overlays.

The Funniest Halloween Costume Ideas

You've got to love Halloween. If you think about it, it's an extremely random night where nearly anything goes. Any other day of the year where people dressed up as they do, and they'd be looked at as crazy people. Halloween, on the other hand, lets people do as they please, where no one will ever question anyone else's action.

Saw Bits

I live in a big city myself, so it's always funny to see what people end up wearing, and the way they walk the streets in those costumes. There are always some great parties too, so people really do what they can to come up with their best costume ideas. Anyway, here are a few of the funniest Halloween costumes I've seen in recent memory.

Saw Bits

I was out last year, and saw a group of four guys dressed up as the Entourage crew. From Vincent Chase to Johnny Drama and Turtle and "E", literally everyone looked so much like the four cast members it was scary. These people were instantly recognizable.

This is a pre-made costume, but it's very funny nonetheless. It's a play on the Hooters waitress, and the costume is known as the Droopers costume. Use your imagination here, I need say nothing more about this one. I will say that more guys seem to wear it than girls do.

The invisible man costume always gets me too. It costs a bit of money, but the fact that it looks like you're walking around headless with a hat floating in air has always amazed me.

How to Shop for Woodworking Jigs

It only takes one drilling mistake to convince a woodworker of the value of a good jig. A jig is an essential piece of equipment for your home workshop. Woodworking jigs are frames or boxes made to stabilize your work while you locate and even up drill holes. Jigs are a terrific way to space your machine work properly.

Saw Bits

It is worth the money to invest in a good jig, even though some workers build small ones themselves. The choice is simple. You can either invest in a good jig and save yourself hours of labor and ruined wood when mistakes are made, or not use a jig and waste all that time and energy. Most serious hobbyists opt for a jig.

Saw Bits

There are many different kinds of jigs for you to consider in your workshop, depending on what kind of work you want to do. Here are a few of the essential jigs.

1. The dowel jig. This jig is ideal for dowel holes. You can make holes precisely in both width and diameter. These holes will align with the two pieces that need to fit together. What do you need this for? If you are making any kind of furniture, in particular tables, chairs, or drawers, you will need your dowel holes to be exact so everything fits together perfectly.

2. The dovetail jig. This jig creates professional drawers that will last forever. You do not find cheap, modern furniture being given the dovetail treatment. Only classic pieces that are meant to last deserve the dovetail jig.

3. Router jig. This jig is for you if you aim to create beveled edges on your table tops and drawer faces. The router jig stabilizes the wood as you cut, ensuring professional-grade woodworking and allowing you to do ornate work.

If you are not ready to invest in a jig, there are ways around it for small woodworking jobs. For instance, you can wrap a piece of masking tape around your drill bit to mark the desired depth of your hole. If you keep the tape on, you can drill many standard holes. But if you are going to get serious about woodworking, you want a more precise hole, and one that doesn't require you to peel sticky tape residue off your drill bit. It might be time to invest in a jig.

To find a good jig, visit your local hardware store or home improvement store. Places like Lowes and Home Depot often give free woodworking demonstrations for interested customers. You can ask the experienced staff about the equipment and get informed responses. You can also let the staff know your price range and they can recommend how to get the best jig for your money. If you cannot find something this way, go online and visit woodworking blogs. There is always someone online willing to give you good advice when you solicit it. You can also find websites devoted to customer's personal ratings of woodworking equipment. Find a five star jig online and go buy it in person.

Political Tattoos

In 2008, it seems more and more of Americas youth took the initiative to get involved in the political process, and since tattoos are very popular with the younger generation, political tattoos were destined to soon appear. Many young people are getting them, but it is not a decision to be made quickly or lightly.

Saw Bits

People have started to get the logo of the political party that they support permanently placed on their body, but before you do that, you need to think about a few things. Organizations change their logos over the years, and if you get it on your skin, it might change a few years down the road. Also I recently saw one person place the logo of a politician that they support on their skin, and I would seriously recommend against doing this because both political parties, and candidates can and do change some of their positions on certain issues, and that issue may be a deal breaker for you. You may also have a change of heart, and switch parties, leaving you with a tattoo that advertises a party that you do not support any longer.

Saw Bits

If you are absolutely set on showing your support for your party on your skin, be sure to find a high quality image, such as one from an online tattoo gallery, because your tattoo artist might not be familiar with the party or candidates logo, and you need a high resolution, and high quality large image for your chosen tattoo artist to work with.

Why You Want A Router Table In Your Woodworking Shop

Everyone that is interested in woodworking wants to make something that makes others say 'wow"
A router table adds a new dimension to your woodworking because of its amazing versatility. For such a simple concept, a spinning blade, the router table has so many different profiles.

Saw Bits

I have always said that when you put your project on the router table it is wood, when you take it off, its furniture.

Saw Bits

Here are the top reasons why you want a router table in your shop.

· Amazing versatility

· Versatile edge profiles

· Template following capabilities

· Dado and groove cutting

· Raised panel doors construction

· Precision joinery

· Rounding over wood

· Tables available in Large and bench top sizes

· Tons of accessories are available

· Router bits are available for almost anything

· You can make your own router table, but not your own table saw!

Just think, if you bought a 50-piece router bit set and brought it home, you could literally do 50 different types of cutting. That's like getting 50 different machines in your shop.

Here are some cool things you can do with "unique" router bits

· Glue Joints

· Mortising

· Lock Mitres (for strong joints)

· Architectural moldings

· Stile and Rail joinery

· Box joints

· Panel raising

· Tongue and groove joints

· Finger joints

· Laminate trimming

· Face framing bits

· Dovetail joinery

· Sign making

· Rabbets

· Biscuit joining

· Slot cutting

· Round overs

· Fluting

· Multi beading

· Picture hanging bits

· Mullion cutters

One of the better aspects of routing on a router table is the ability to attach a dust collector to your router fence. I personally like a portable dust collector that is dedicated to my router table. If you can split the dust hose using a "T" you can collect dust at the router fence and again at the bottom of the table. This keeps your shop clean and organized.

There are so many accessories out there, it can boggle the mind. You can find almost anything for the most demanding project. With so many accessories available, I find it valuable to have a router table cabinet with drawers. Under the table portion of the cabinet is open so the router can breathe. Underneath I like having two drawers that keep all my router table items in one place. I could never keep all the little knobs, allen wrenches, collet wrenches and speed controls, to name a few, all organized. Imagine how easy it is with a couple of drawers to help you keep it all together.

So how do you learn more about your router table? You read, read and read some more. Thanks to the Internet, there is so much out there (for free) that you can learn. Hopefully this article has inspired you to go out and buy a router table and make something amazing.

If this article has inspired you, you may want to learn more about what type of router to purchase when you set up your router table. There are a lot of choices out there and the Internet can either help you or confuse you. I will be posting another article on this very subject.
